Packard Premium Tools are made using the Asea Stora Process (ASP), a process which gives the steel a higher vanadium content for longer edge holding ability, yet still being easy to sharpen. This translates into a superior tool, containing steel with a uniform hardness of 67-69 HRC that holds its edge "...far longer than conventional M2 HSS tools" (Woodturning Magazine).
