A Business Born at Home
Back in 1992, Brad and Debbie Packard began formulating plans for a new business. They created their first catalog for Woodturners with two goals in mind. First and most importantly, they wanted to give woodturners a mail order source for the tools and supplies they required so they could achieve the best work possible.
Their second goal was to work towards developing specialized products that were totally new in the market place and to make these products readily available to any turner who wanted to use them.
With Brad's experience, both as a woodturner and with selling machinery, and Debbie's keen eye for detail and organization...Packard Woodworks was born.
Our First Catalog
In true family business style, our first catalog was assembled and readied for mailing at home, with help from our children Jennifer and Ben. When it came time for assembly, the dining room table was cleared and readied for collating.
This catalog featured a beautiful line drawing of our home in Tryon, NC where Packard Woodworks was born. It also featured our first new product, the Diamond Jim Dressing Tool, which was quite a hit with our customers.
Travel back in time...
See how we've grown over the years and enjoy some of our favorite catalogs.
Over 30 years later, our business has grown to include products for pyrography and wood carving as well and our current space, still situated in Tryon, NC, has allowed us to stock so many more items for our customers.
