Jimmy Clewes is a well known teacher and demonstrator in his native England as well as here in the USA. His new "Turn It On" series of three DVDs showcases Jimmy's winning personality and skill as a woodturner. Each DVD concentrates on detailed explanations of a few projects rather than having more projects with less detail. Each DVD is two hours long including two projects and two bonus features. The camerawork and lighting are very good including a special camera on a boom showing "over the shoulder shots" and great closeups. A macro camera shows very detailed extreme closeups of the cutting taking place. The DVDs are available individually or as a boxed set.

Volume 1 projects include making a footless bowl out of spalted birch burl and an Oriental style box from rosewood with a 22K gold leaf inlay. The bonus features include several bowl gouge sharpening techniques and a section on the reality of life as a professional woodturner.
